Old Market Siem Reap

Some people prefer the air-conditioned shopping malls that you can find in the capital Phnom Penh and main tourist town of Siem Reap, but if you are looking for a shopping experience with some local flavour then head to the Old Market, or Psar Chas, in Siem Reap.

Where is the Old Market in Siem Reap?

The market is located in the heart of the town, close to the river, Pub Street and several luxury hotels and great restaurants. It is also just around the corner from the Angkor Night Market.

A Market for Locals and Tourists

Siem Reap’s old market is replete with everything you could imagine you might find in a Southeast Asian market – as well as many things beyond your comprehension. Popular with both tourists and locals, Psar Chas is a bustling and vibrant place full of clothes, bags, food, DVDs and almost every souvenir. This is the perfect place to explore during the day or as an entertaining spot to escape the rain during monsoon season.

For those of you with a sense of adventure when it comes to food, why not try some of the local delicacies on offer inside? You can even try Cambodia’s famous prahok (fermented fish paste).

There is also Psar Chas in the capital city of Phnom Penh, which is an interesting place to explore and popular with locals looking for fresh vegetables or fish.
