To access the floating village in Kampong Chhnang, you can board a boat from the main docks in central Kampong Chhnang town. There was only one large tourist boat when we were there but they were happy to take two of us at a reasonable price.
The boat will take you upriver past the floating villages. If you can find a smaller boat, it is possible to weave in between the floating structures, offering a glimpse into life on the water.
This is one of many floating villages around the Tonle Sap Lake area, with others in Pursat and Siem Reap.
You can also soak up picturesque views of the Kong Rei Mountain from the river, which is said to have the shape of a woman lying down on her side. So, don’t forget your camera!
