The 90-year-old Raffles Hotel Le Royal’s famed Elephant Bar has introduced a new World Gin Tour to Phnom Penh.

The World Gin Tour is an annual event that highlights a few of Elephant Bar’s more than 150 unique gins from across the world. Elephant Bar’s skilled bartenders can create any drink, whether it be a traditional mix or a contemporary design.

In addition to a “gin masterclass” that comprises two hours of cocktail flights showcasing the featured gin, which costs $28, a fresh cocktail menu comprising revitalising beverages crafted with gins from other nations will be unveiled each month.

The tour will stop in Australia in February, Spain in March, Cambodia in April, and Ireland in April (May). In January, French gin served as the centrepiece of the World Gin Tour. An unique one-night “bar takeover” with guest mixologists kicks off each destination on the tour.

Visitors may win amazing rewards by filling up their gin passes. There are 12 stamps on the pass: six will gain you a free Elephant Bar gin masterclass; nine, a free bottle of Elephant Bar Dry Gin; and 12, a drink you created that will be on the menu at Elephant Bar for a month.

Elephant Bar is a well-known Phnom Penh landmark. In classic colonial fashion, wicker seats and leather sofas are positioned in front of tall windows. Charlie Chaplin, Somerset Maugham and Jacqueline Kennedy were among the bar’s patrons during the course of its more than 90-year history. Kennedy also drank the first Femme Fatale, which is now the Elephant Bar’s signature drink.

Recently, Elephant Bar was put forward for the Top 30 Bar Awards in Cambodia. The 1929-opened Raffles Hotel Le Royal was chosen by Condé Nast Traveler readers as the best hotel in Cambodia at its annual Readers’ Choice Awards in October.
