Java Creative Café

Java Creative Café is a long-standing gallery in Phnom Penh that has supported the regional art scene since 2000.

The company’s most recent Tuol Tom Poung location is a large creative space and café with a black box theatre that frequently stages shows, in place of its former Sihanouk Boulevard location that overlooked the Independence Monument.

With stunning and thought-provoking shows that occasionally change the café settings, the gallery introduces art to the people of Phnom Penh in ways they may not often encounter it. Having six exhibits a year highlighting up-and-coming artists from Cambodia, many of whom have gone on to have successful careers abroad.

Their small-scale black box theatre opened its doors to Prumsodun Ok & Natyarasa, a local dance troupe. Since it first started, the resident organisations Sophiline Arts Ensemble, Dynamoverse, Comedy in Cambodia, and Common Sole have joined, providing regular performances of dance, storytelling, comedy, theatre, experimental performance, and improv.

Along with fantastic meals, Java Creative Café also features a community art space. Tuol Kork houses its sister café and gallery.
