French Watch Tower

The French watch tower stands on the Mekong river opposite to Kampong Cham. It was built by the French in the 1900s supposedly to protect the nearby plantations against bandits heading up the river.
There is a steep but sturdy metal staircase inside the tower so you can climb to the top for a fantastic view over the Mekong River, the Koh Pen Bamboo Bridge and Kampong Cham city on the opposite bank.
The French watch tower is worth a quick stop if you’re passing through Kampong Cham, it is just a few minutes from Kizuna Bridge on National Road 7.
