Cambodia Visa: All You Need to Know

Getting a Cambodia visa is extremely simple for most people. There are four different categories for getting a visa:

Visa Exempt

This applies to the nine ASEAN countries. Citizens of Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam are visa exempt for a period up to 30 days, while those of Brunei, Thailand and Myanmar can stay via exempt for 15 days.

Cambodia eVisa

Citizens of most countries can get Citizens of most countries can get a Cambodia visa online. You can find a list of these countries here. This allows a single entry 30 day stay.

Cambodia Visa on Arrival

The same list of countries applies for citizens who can obtain a visa upon arrival at all land, sea and air borders. This also allows a single entry 30 day stay.

Visa Required

However, there are ten countries where a visa is required from your consulate or embassy in advance. These are: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Sudan.

How to apply for a tourist visa?

You can either apply for an eVisa in advance at the offiicial Cambodian Governement e-visa site, or upon arrival at the airport. Do not use any other site or service as it could well be a scam and will certainly cost you more. The official site is pretty straightforward. The eVisa should take three working days to process and you can pay by credit card. Either way make sure you have passport photos (which you need to scan if applying for the eVisa), and that your passport is valid for six months.

How much does an eVisa cost in Cambodia?

The Cambodia visa (T Class for tourists) costs $30. There is a $6 processing charge for the e-visa.

A Cambodia business visa (E Class) costs $35, with the same processing fee for an e-visa.

The advantage of the latter is that you can extend it without leaving the country should you plan to stay in Cambodia longer than 30 days. You can see the current cost of an eVisa here.
