You don’t have to look very far to find a good pizza in the Cambodian capital as the city has plenty of options to choose from, ranging from budget to exclusive. Here’s our selection of some of the best pizzas in Phnom Penh.
Best Pizzas in Phnom Penh
Pizza 4P
Pizza 4P has been making quite a splash since the Vietnamese-headquartered, Japanese Italian pizza joint opened its doors on the capital’s Riverside in 2021. Since then, it’s scooped the crown of ‘Best Pizza in Cambodia’ in Travel + Leisure magazine’s Asia’s Best Awards 2022, and is about to open a second branch in the capital’s BKK1 district. In addition to traditional toppings, Pizza 4P has given the classic Italian dish a local spin. Options include the ‘num banh chok pizza’, modelled on the Khmer breakfast dish, and the ‘zero waste concept pizza’, topped with smoked fish and egg sauce served with cricket spices.
Terrazza
For a more elevated pizza experience, try Terrazza. Since opening in 2013, the Italian-run restaurant prides itself on serving premium Italian dishes, including a wide range of pizzas. As well as a set menu, the restaurant’s dedicated pizzeria offers a tapas menu with weekly selections.
Piccola Italia da Luigi Pizzeria
This boutique eatery is one of the spots that first breathed life into Street 308 almost a decade ago. Today, the area has morphed into the lively Bassac Lane area and is a hive of activity. Serving affordable thin crust, Italian-style pizzas, Piccola’s is an intimate affair spread across two floors. Be warned, due to its small size it can get busy quickly, so it’s worth booking ahead.
Pop Café
A stalwart on the Italian comfort food scene, Pop Café is a cosy spot on the Riverside that has been keeping diners happy since 1999. In addition to an extensive range of pastas – the lasagne deserves a shout-out! – and salads, it serves deliciously crispy pizzas. The signature ‘Pizza Pop’ with cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, oregano and parmigiana is excellent.
Trattoria Bello
Trattoria Bello ticks all the boxes when it comes to serving the best pizza in Phnom Penh. The cute trattoria-style eatery is run by a Japanese husband and Khmer wife team, who are always on hand to welcome you with a smile. In addition to the top-notch hospitality, the pizza’s darn good – and cheap. Thin crust, with plenty of toppings to choose from, the pepperoni comes highly recommended. Again, this is a popular spot with limited seating, so book in advance.
Nike’s Pizza House
A cheap – and often missed off the map – pizza place in Phnom Penh is Nike’s Pizza House. It has an extensive menu that takes in pages and pages of heartily, home-cooked pizza and pasta, all served with a smile. It specialises in calzones, with the blue cheese and ham a definite winner. It recently relocated from Tonle Bassac to Toul Tom Poung.
Limoncello
For authentic Italian pizzas, look no further than Limoncello. A stalwart on the dining scene, the restaurant is set in a stunning colonial-style villa with an outdoor terrace and serves delicious wood-fire pizzas, with a delightfully crunchy crust and heaps of toppings. The ‘burratella’ made with deliciously creamy burrata is a must-try.
Metropole Underground
While the Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh’s Underground bar might not be the obvious choice for best pizza in Phnom Penh, it should be. The sophisticated subterranean spot serves a selection of perfectly crunchy, thin crust pizzas, topped with lashings of cheese and other ingredients. These pizzas also scooped second place for the best pizza in Cambodia in Asia’s Best Awards 2022. There are three options to choose from: ‘South Coast Seafood’, mozzarella, and pickled jalapeños; ‘Pepperoni’, mozzarella, red onion and rocket; and ‘Honey Roast Ham’, mushroom, olives and mozzarella.
Il Forno
Inching more towards the upscale side, Il Forno is a winning Italian restaurant and winery. It made a name for itself in Siem Reap before expanding to the capital. The ‘4 Formaggi’ is a cheese-lover’s delight, with lashings of mozzarella, taleggio, scamorza and gorgonzola.
Brooklyn Pizza & Bistro
If it’s American-style pizza you’re after, then head to Brooklyn’s, where you definitely won’t leave hungry. With thick crusts and heavy toppings, the options span the spectrum. For example, the ‘Godfather Sausage Meatball Pizza’ is a meat lover’s delight, comprising sausage, sliced meatballs, olives, bell peppers, parmesan, chilli flakes, and mozzarella.
After Limoncello the very best pizza place. ROMANO’s does not get a mention
